INDIAN SCIENCE CONGRESS 2018

The 105th Indian Science Congress was started on 16th March, 2018 at Imphal, the capital of Manipur. Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 105th Indian Science Congress on 16th March (Friday) at the Manipur University. The focal theme of the congress is “Reaching the Unreached through Science and Technology.” In his speech, the Prime Minister urged the community to inculcate a scientific temper among the youth, and stressed that the Indian government has come up with new initiatives to promote research and development. Dr. Najma Heptullah, Governor of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Ministry of Science & Technology, Prof. Achyuta Samamta, General President, Indian Science Congress (ISCA) and Prof Adya Prasad Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University were present.

The event lasted for four days and was held at Manipur University campus. More than 5000 scientists, senior science ministry officials, scholars, students and numerous enthusiastic audiences participated in the 105th Indian Science Congress. 

The five day-long event includes various activities like symposiums, posters and oral presentations, workshops, lectures and cultural events. Also numerous numbers of stalls were set-up, exhibiting the various works carried out by different departments and organizations around the country. 

MISTIC team which comprised of Mr. Davy Lalruatliana, Scientific Officer and Mr. John Lalchhuanawma Sailo, Technical Assistant participated in the Science Expo where various activities and achievements of Mizoram in the field of Science & Technology are displayed.
