The National Mathematics Day is observed every year on 22nd December to celebrate the birth anniversary of great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The day 'December 22' has been declared as the National Mathematics Day. The former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh declared this day as National Mathematics Day on February 26, 2012 when he was visiting the Madras University in order to pay tribute to Ramanujan's achievements and celebrate his 125th birth anniversary. Mizoram Science, Technology & Innovation Council observe National Mathematics Day every year under the auspices of National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The event is celebrated in collaboration with Mizoram Science Society by organising various activities such as organising of state level Mathematics Competition, Mizoram Mathematics Congress, Technology Based Learning Mathematics Module, Mathematics Summer Camp and other activities.
