Mimbung is in the north-eastern part of Mizoram at a coordinate of latitude 23.9996395°N, 93.2854006°E longitude. Mimbung is a village located at the north eastern end of Mizoram sharing a national border line with Manipur and an International border line with Myanmar. The village has a population of 2900 people living in 444 houses. The major livelihood is based on farming and related activities. Jhum cultivation is the most commonly practiced system of agriculture. The chief crops produced include paddy, cucumber, pineapple, chilli, tobacco, orange, mango, and khanghu. They have two agriculturally based cooperative societies in the village i.e., Agricultural farming society and Landless society. There is no processing or storage facility in the village and due to difficulty in reaching the market, the agricultural products often deteriorate and get wasted. Recently during COVID lockdown (2020 & 2021), tonnes of cucumber and pineapple were spoiled as they were not able to sell their produce.
