National Space Day 2024 Celebration
FIRST NATIONAL SPACE DAY, 2024 CELEBRATED IN MIZORAM
In Mizoram, the first event for celebration of National Space Day 2024 was organised on 6th August, 2024 at the Assembly House Annexe Hall, Treasury Square, Aizawl by the collaborative efforts of Indian Space Research Organisation, North Eastern Space Applications and Mizoram Remote Sensing Application Centre. The function was chaired by Shri Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary, Planning Department. Dr. Vanlalthlana, School Education Minister graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. It is a remarkable day, a triumph for Indians to mark the successful soft landing of the Chandrayan 3 Moon Lander at Shiv Shakti Point that will instill the curiosity and knowledge of space exploration and technology to young minds, mentioned the Chief Guest. Dr. Rocky Pebam, Sci/Eng SF, ISRO-NESAC, Shillong presented a brief report on Space Day and mentioned that India is the 4th country in the world that is able to reach the moon. Dr. Senthil Kumar G, Sci/Eng SF, ISRO-URSC, Bangalore gave a presentation about the Chandrayan 3 Moon Mission. Er. H. Lalsawmliana, Chief Scientific Officer, DST & Member Secretary gave a presentation on utilisation of space technology and Pi Hmingthanpuii, Principal Scientist, MIRSAC proposed the vote of thanks.
The event also saw the ‘Audio Visual Show & Space Exhibition Display’ organised by NESAC & MIRSAC Team at the first floor of Assemby Annexe and Interactive Q&A session. Distribution of National Space Day Quiz awards to the winners was also held. Two students each from 25 schools participated in this quiz, and the 1st prize was bagged by Govt. Saitual HSS, 2nd prize bagged by Govt. Mizo HSS and 3rd prize bagged by Synod HSS. National Space Day will continue to be celebrated till August 23, 2024 in various ways.
