WORKSHOP ON ASSESSMENT OF VULNERABILITY DUE TO CLIMATE CHANGE IN INDIAN HIMALAYAN REGION WITH RESPECT TO MIZORAM

One day workshop on Assessment of Vulnerability due to Climate Change in Indian Himalayan Region with Respect to Mizoram was organized on 4th March 2019 at Secretariat Conference Hall, Mizoram New Capital Complex, Khatla, Aizawl, Mizoram. The workshop aims to disseminate the result obtained the recent vulnerability assessment study done by the Mizoram State Climate Change cell on socio-economic and biophysical sectors in Mizoram as well as the study done in the Indian Himalayan Region by other states.

The workshop was chaired by Dr. R.K. Lallianthanga, Chief Scientific Officer & Member Secretary, Mizoram Science, Technology & Innovation Council (MISTIC). The inauguration programme was addressed by Dr. K. Kire, Additional PCCF & Nodal Officer (Climate Change), Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department, Government of Mizoram. There were two speakers in the following technical session in which Dr. James Lalnunzira Hrahsel, Project Scientist, Mizoram State Climate Change Cell delivers a presentation on Climate Vulnerability Assessment - Inherent Vulnerability Profiles of Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) States followed by a talk on District Level Climate Vulnerability Assessment on Bio-physical & Socio-economic Sectors in Mizoram delivered by  Mr. Lalthanpuia, Project Scientist, Mizoram State Climate Change Cell. The programmed ended after questions and answers along with insightful discussions among the participants.  

A total of 35 persons from different Government Line Departments, faculties from academic institutions within the state and NGOs attended the workshop.
